The Unidentifiable Beauty of a minute of silence.
And yes, it appears that we “Europeans” still are one big family. At least on days like the ones that bombs are going off in the undergrounds of the European heart in Brussels. Suddenly there’s a Belgium again, in a state of being one nation for at least a day or two. On normal weekdays it’s all about separating the Dutch-speaking from the ones who speak French, about the blame on the poor Wallonia for sucking the money out of the “working” parts of Flanders. The populist politicians, often related to Nazi-like and racists organisations find themselves in a great situation to blame all immigrants and shouting out to get the borders closed and deport everybody that isn’t blessed with a white skin. The problem is that a lot of short-minded people are applauding their statements, interpret their messages as they see fit and go as far as putting pigs heads in front of Mosk’s or even try to burn them down.

And yes, it appears that we “Europeans” still are one big family. At least on days like the one that JC. went to heaven, although he was one day early according to the angel at the gate. In Barcelona they are all moaning because the man, who single handed started the fight against Franco by defeating the Madrileens by making a few goals, giving back Catalonians their pride. Suddenly all journalists and media-horny soccer annalists were called to the broadcast table to talk about their “friend” Johan Cruijf. Again his timing was excellent, just at the point where the TV audience was getting tired of the next program on terrorism in Belgium and advertisers started to worry about the numbers of viewers on the Dutch TV, JC. came to the rescue and filled-up the gap towards the live broadcast of “The Passion”, a commercial and modern version of another JC. walking with a cross on his back thru one of Holland’s city’s, captured by over a hundred camera’s and accompanied by pop songs, sang by Holland’s most desperate artists. The flags on gouvernment buildings were already halfway the post because of what happened in Belgium, now the sank them to a quarter. Luckily the football match between France and the Netherlands is played on Friday night, just in time to get the momentum going. They are lobbying like hell to get the “Amsterdam Arena” (home stadium of Ajax) renamed into the “Johan Cruijf Arena”.

The unidentifiable beauty of the sad events that occurred this week lays in the one minute of silence that will be before almost every event this weekend. One minute of respect for the victims of a terrorist attack and in Amsterdam and Barcelona even more for their beloved JC, “El Salvador”. Eleven football players in a circle, heads down in silence. Some of them white Europeans, most of them immigrants. A few Catholics from South America, a few atheists from Scandinavia, some Baptists from Suriname and at least half of them Muslims from Africa, most of them second or third generation immigrants but still one of those “other group” people, that populist politicians and their racist followers are so keen to put in the category of enemies. I’m not a football fan, but at least in sports, it’s all about talent and skills. Sadly enough, next to the music business it’s one of the few sub-cultures of society where there’s an equal chance. The world today just isn’t a nice place to grow up in if you’re born at the wrong spot, and it’s only getting worse.
.
There’s a big chance that the world will be ruled by racist lunatics like Donald Trump and his republican fake Christians with a God-syndrome in the USA and narcissists like Wilders and Le Penn in Europe, who are even worse than Cameron and Rutte. A former Republican congresswoman from Minnesota said Wednesday that the terror attack in Brussels was just God’s way of sticking it to President Obama for visiting Cuba. With dastardly satisfaction, this Bachmann woman wondered if the terrorists hadn’t been carrying out God’s will to kill 31 and wound some 250 people just to stick it to that awful Jew-hating, Cuban-liberating Obama. She also blamed Angela Merkel and other European leaders for peddling “the dangerous fantasy of multicultural diversity, globalization and one-world nonsense.” It’s obvious what the closure of mental-institutes did for common sense in the USA. Maybe it’s not too late for Europe, maybe it is. Let’s start with a minute of silence….
