The unidentifiable beauty in forgiven sins.

He must have been a great man although he had a lower education, this Jesus character who was nailed to a cross so that 2000 years later people would have a few days of holiday. The idea of coming back to life made business flourish by selling chocolate Easter bunny’s, made the workers unions, in lots of countries around the world, negotiate with gouvernments to make it into a two days celebration and made some commercial geniuses convince the crowd that the best way to spend Easter holidays is by spending money at Ikea or other furniture selling boulevards. As some religious fanatics came up with the story that he died for all the peoples’ sins it soon became in fashion that future sins were included.

Now wouldn’t it be great if one of the 15 Palestinian protesters that were murdered bij the Israelian army would resurrect? Maybe that man that was just harvesting the crops on his land that happens to be within the 300 range of the illegally built concentration-camp fence. I guess these people died for the same reasons as they nailed that carpenters son to a cross. It all turned out to be the worst “wieder gut machung” in history, (re)creating Israel as an agnolishment for the horrendous holocaust by Nazi Germany and their allies in all countries where people “didn’t know” what was going on. What should had become a melting pot of freedom and peace, over decades turned out in to a racist, apartheid regime ruled country, that despite the “United Nations General Assembly Resolution 194”  is never to be blamed for anything, not even killing protesters who are just claiming their rights as described in that same resolution. Any protest against the State of Israel is labelled “anti-Jews” or “Antisemitic”, although most politicians don’t even know the real meaning of that word*.

It doesn’t really matter. At Easter we celebrate that this Jesus guy died for all the sins we made in history and all future times. It gives us “Carte Blanche” to do whatever we want. There’s no reason to fight against injustice because the people responsible will have to face their “maker” in the end. If you are so lucky to be a Catholic, just confess at the “make me feel better” booth and go on with your life like the many priests did when they helped the Nazi’s or the inquisition to identify Jews. The whole world is to blame, but that doesn’t make it right for Israel to maintain the biggest concentration camp in human history.

The same people who are admiring the commercial version of “The Passion”, a big spectacle organized every year by a Dutch religious broadcasting organisation, in where some singer, in need of boosting his career, plays Jesus singing some of the biggest hits of modern times and Maria is played by a Whitney Houston believer, are shouting hell and damnation when some company advertises love with a poster of two gay men kissing, a marriage between a Muslim and a Jew, a black man and a white woman obvious being in love. In their eyes, it’s the biggest threat to family life, Christianity and the future of the world. Suddenly there’s no place for love, compassion and equality. They actually believe that this Arabic man was nailed to a cross for their white, straight, supremacy points of view.

Now I’m a carpenter, a member of the “lower educated” class, I don’t have a son nor any other children I know of, but my wife is called Maria, so I can’t be sure. I can do what hardly any politician, banker, CEO, professor, priest, pope, president, imam, evangelian TV preacher, dictator or some member of a Royal family cannot do. I can build a magnificent giant cross, but I refuse, as any craftsmen should. If there’s a call from the white house about a blocked toilet during the Easter holidays, all American plumbers should refuse to fix it, let Trump and his disciples clean up their own shit. If there is some “black socks” church reverent calling you up it’s cold in his church, don’t go to fix the heating, let him and his homophobic flock just pray for warmth. If the CEO of Nestle calls for a mechanic because his limousine broke down, let one of his chocolate Easter bunny’s solve the problem. Just don’t do what they expect of you for a few days a year, make them realize their exclusive lives depend on your skills and expertise. Just enjoy a few days with family and friends, don’t build the cross they will nail you on. Happy Easter!

*Most Arabs and certainly Palestinians are Semitic too. The most widely spoken Semitic language today is Arabic (as is Hebrew) and goes back to the ancient civilisations of Mesopotamia, Israel etc. The word antisemitic got a different meaning over time but was to express the superiority of the Arian race above all others. A DNA study of Jews and Palestinian Arabs (including Bedouins) found that these were more closely related to each other than to neighbouring Arabs. But people interested in the subject just could read some books about it or just use google.
